WHAT IS

Medical Weight Management

A Medical Weight Management Program is an evidenced-based, medically supervised approach to weight management. The goal of the program is to help you to make changes that will improve your health and quality of life.  We help you discover your best weight - the weight you can achieve and maintain while living the healthiest life that you can enjoy.

At Terra, our program is individualized and all about you. It's about making personal goals that are realistic and achievable. While weight is an indicator, your health is the ultimate goal. It is not about restriction, expensive supplements, and long hours at the gym every day.

FAQ

About The Program
  • HOW MUCH WEIGHT WILL I LOSE?

While weight loss is one of the goals of this program, improving your overall health and wellness is the key outcome. It is impossible to tell for sure how much weight you will lose and there are various individual factors that impact our weight and metabolism. We will work with each individual to get them to their “best weight” that they can maintain long term.

  • DO YOU PRESCRIBE MEDICATIONS FOR WEIGHT LOSS?

Yes, there are medications approved by Health Canada that can be used in combination with healthy behaviours to help support people who are trying to manage their weight and improve their health. Each person responds to these medications differently. It will depend on your individual health and history whether or not medications are appropriate however our Nurse Practitioner can discuss this with you and prescribe if necessary.

  • HOW LONG CAN I CONTINUE SUSTAIN PROGRAM?

There is no timeline. We will continue to offer ongoing support for as long as you need us. We understand that life happens, and it’s not always easy to maintain behavioral changes without support.

  • DO I NEED A REFERRAL FROM A DOCTOR OR NURSE PRACTITIONER?

No, there is no referral required. If you have a primary care provider, we are more then happy to send along information if you consent to inform them of your treatment recommendations and progress.

  • CAN I SPEAK TO SOMEONE IF THIS IS THE RIGHT OPTION FOR ME?
